IN MY quest to tell some of Jamaica's wonderful stories to the world, I must say a big thank you to my fellow countrymen for giving me support and so many words of encouragement.
The recent launch of my novel, Port Royal, at Devon House, bears testimony to the interest shown by some Jamaicans, some of whom, went overboard and beyond the call of duty, in ensuring a successful launch and a truly 'literary evening.'
First, I must commend The Gleaner, and Barbara Ellington, in particular, for giving so much support from as far back as 1999, when my first novel, Lover's Leap, was published. To the Sunday Herald, Jamaica Information Service, CVM, TVJ, Power-FM, Fae Ellington at KLAS, and the other media houses for their coverage.
Joylene Griffthis-Irving, who worked tirelessly to organise the launch, a special thank you. Also, Mrs. Delores Crooks of JAMPRO, the sponsors, Mr. Glendon Nam of Devon House, Mr. Robert Stephens of Pragma Consultants for his glowing review, Mr. Ian Boyne of JIS, Mrs. Carole Guntley-Brady,Tourism Director-General, Dr. Cedric Lazarus, Ms. Audrey Aird for catering, Ms. Gail Mills, Betty Campbell, Richard Forbes (Phase Three, Yvonne Wray), Mrs. Yvonne Lazarus and the countless others. My heartfelt thanks and appreciation for your efforts.
Jamaica's stories deserve a place in the libraries, bookstores, and classrooms around the world. Many thanks for standing behind me in this mission. God bless.
