Cowboy arrogance

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I READ an excellent article written by Mr. H. K. 'Billy' Burke - "Bush: Riding for a fall?" in The Gleaner of Friday, September 13. Perhaps someone should send the President a copy.

I have no problem with someone seeking revenge for the hurt that may have fallen on their loved ones or their country. I would certainly be possessed with such emotions if I was the bereaved. It seems to me though that such acts of revenge should be directed against the perpetrators

rather than against innocent people who become nothing but scapegoats after the Bin Ladens have disappeared into the woodwork.

As stated by Mr. Mandela in the same issue of the newspaper "the United States is a threat to world peace," and it is certainly true and gives the rest of the world reason for concern.

The rhetoric of Mr. Bush is nothing more than mean western cowboy arrogance, except that at this time he has two nuclear bombs strapped to his hip with a bible in one hand and the United States flag in the other.

We are all riding for a fall if Mr. Bush continues with his war-mongering ways.

I am etc.,
