It takes a dreamer

THE EDITOR, Sir:

DR. OMAR Davies, in the Tuesday Gleaner of 3rd September, 2002, states that the JLP manifesto is nothing but a 'dream book'. However, I remember statements made by a great man, Dr. Martin Luther King when he said, "I have a dream". It was that dream that helped to ensure the freedom of Blacks in America. It took one man with a dream. He envisioned the freedom of "blacks' and some of the privileges we enjoy today all came from a dream.

In order to put something into action it has to be conceptualised. It has to be thought about, you have to dream of it. Without a vision the Great Book states, the people perish. I would rather go with a dreamer, at least he is thinking. Something might not be immediately realistic, but while there is a will there is a way.

I have a dream and even though the state of the country does not reflect realistically that some of those dreams are attainable, I still hold on to my dream. Keeping hope alive. If the JLP manifesto is a book of dreams, then I gravitate towards it, at least there is a semblance of hope.

I am, etc.,

CAMILLE W.
