THE EDITOR, Sir:I HAVE a very good friend and peer who enjoys writing just as much as I. Whenever there is anything good, we write on it, whenever there is anything bad, we comment on it as well.
Lately, my friend wrote on Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls and commended the principal, Mrs. Harrison.
Let me use this opportunity to add my bit as well. Too many times we wait until the person is no longer around to salute them with roses; I will not send her roses after she is gone, I will add my salutations now.
With school just reopening, the principal greeted parents with another demonstration of what true leadership is about.
In agreement with the Board of the School, she got a JUTC bus to collect the girls who travel downtown, from off the school's compound, to a central place downtown, thus ensuring that they reach their destination on time and within reason, safely enough.
That is genuine concern in an atypical leader. Now how do you say thanks to someone like that. With co-operative parents there is no telling what she can do, right there in her small corner.
Mrs. Harrison is constantly building, constantly improving, constantly dynamic. I wish all leadership would copy her style.
Perhaps she is leading by example, as a teacher, she is teaching. Perchance some leaders, be it governmental, spiritual, organizational might take a few leaves out of her large book.
They might never be quite like her; there might never be another Mrs. Harrison in this time, (although I gather they have a very close contender in one of her vice principals).
Failing that though, there might be a few smaller versions.
Keep it up Mrs. Harrison. You do splendidly.
I am, etc.,
