A word to 'Sister P'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me to address an issue which has been troubling me since I read Portia Simpson Miller's response to Audley Shaw's argument regarding the debacle at the JTB's New York office.

Sister P we have seen your progress from back in the 1970s, and believe you have come a long way through hard work, diligence and dedication. Remember this is the 21st century, and politics as we know it has changed from the bad old days (or so we would like to believe).

The days of bad man politics "I am not afraid of no man, no man can touch this girl" is in the past. Not everything that the opposition says is a personal attack. If there are issues to be addressed and questions to be answered, focus on these. Taxpayers need to know that their hard-earned dollars are spent wisely, and not lining the pockets of fat cats. If employees of JTB acted inappropriately, we want to know about it, and they should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Sister P, think globally like the mature, competent and efficient stateswoman we know you are. Let your legacy be one of greatness. Future generations will speak of you as a Minister of the People, for the People.

I am etc.,
