Putting Jamaica first!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A LOT has been said about Bruce Golding rejoining the JLP, the harshest of critics will question his commitment and trust, and even challenge the motive of the JLP! Frankly, those are not issues, moving back and forth is not unusual in Jamaican politics, where there has always been only two parties of significance, and so much confrontation between them.

We need mature professionals in Government, who can put personal grievances behind them and work at resolving conflicts which is part of life! Today, there is not much difference in ideologies between both major parties or all the others for that matter. It is the people that lead them that make the difference, and determine the success and substance of any government.

These parties all strive for the same thing a better Jamaica, how they plan to go about it is debatable, and differentiates them. A strong team, will only mean a stronger and more effective plan, and ultimately a better Government serving Jamaica.

To question Bruce's trust or commitment is petty. The fact is he has the desire to serve, and has made himself available to do so. He is mature and professional enough to attempt to resolve issues of conflict which forced his departure from JLP many years ago. This is how we grow and develop as individuals, and show strength of character and leadership. As to where his commitment is, I think it's obvious, it's with serving the people of Jamaica, and making a difference to help the country to move forward!

I am etc.,
