Charlemont clip Dinthill 1-0

WESTERN BUREAU:

DINTHILL TECHNICAL surrendered their perfect record in Zone J of the Pepsi/Sports Plus daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition yesterday after the were edged 1-0 by Charlemont in a rescheduled game.

Charlemont completed their schedule of matches on 19 points, four more than Dinthill who will also advance to the inter-zone round but will now have to play their two other outstanding games against Glengoffe and Tacius Golding if they are to get the maximum six points and win the zone.

This will not delay the start of the inter-zone round on Saturday however as Competition Officer for the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) George Forbes told The Gleaner yesterday that the games involving Charlemont and Dinthill might have to be pushed back to next week to allow for the completion of Dinthill's games.

In another rescheduled game played yesterday, Garvey Maceo extended their lead over Clarendon College with a 2-0 win over Knox to finish their schedule in Zone H with 22 points, eight more than Clarendon who also advanced.

Twenty schools have already secured their place in the inter-zone round.

The schools already in are: Cornwall College, Grange Hill, Rusea's, Mannings, Cedric Titus, Marcus Garvey, STETHS, Munro, Bellefield, Porus, Holmwood, Spalding, Garvey Maceo, Clarendon, Glenmuir, Old Harbour, Dinthill, Charlemont, Titchfield and St. Mary Technical.

Based on the standings, the six inter-zone groups are expected to look like this:

Group One: A1- Cornwall College, B2 - Rusea's Comprehensive, C1 - Mannings, D2 - Marcus Garvey.

Group Two: A2 - William Knibb/Herbert Morrison, B1 - Grange Hill, C2 - Little London/Knockalva, D1 - Cedric Titus.

Group Three: E1 - STETHS, F2 - Porus, G1 - Holmwood/Christiana, H2 - Clarendon College.

Group Four: E2 - Munro College, F1 - Bellefield Comprehensive, G2 - Holmwood/Christiana, H1 - Garvey Maceo.

Group Five: I1 - Glenmuir/Old Harbour, J2 - Dinthill/Charlemont, K1 - Titchfield High, L2 - ?.

Group Six: - I2 - Glenmuir/Old Harbour, J1 - Dinthill/Charlemont, K2 - St. Mary Technical, L1 - ?.

YESTERDAY'S RESULTS

Zone H: Knox 0 Garvey Maceo 2.

Zone J: Dinthill 0 Charlemont 1. Tacius Golding vs Glengoffe - was not played.
