Glenroy Sinclair, Staff ReporterPOLICE YESTERDAY suggested that a man killed in the morning in Rollington Town, Kingston, was slain by members of a criminal network working to avenge the death of attorney-at-law, Guy Alphanso Jones.
According to the police, yesterday's was the second reprisal killing in the death of the Kingston-based lawyer. Allegations are that the first victim, identified only as "Kenton", was executed just over a week ago.
Allegations are that Courtney Maitland, who is originally from Frontier, St. Mary, was stabbed and shot yesterday morning by about three men who attacked him on Johnson Terrace, Rollington Town, Kingston. The police said Maitland was also a suspect in two murders which occurred in St. Mary recently.
On October 29, the body of Mr. Jones was found with a gunshot wound to the left breast, slumped in the front seat of his car, in Fairy Hill, east Portland. A 9mm semi - automatic pistol with 14 rounds was found on the front seat of the car.
"We had ruled out suicide. The results of the post mortem examination showed that he was shot in the heart and we are now looking at it as a case of murder," said Det. Assistant Commissioner Osbourne Dyer.
The Gleaner has learnt that Mr. Jones was supervising the interest of a man who is now overseas. It is alleged Mr. Jones was tricked into leaving his home on October 28 by gunmen who knew about his overseas connection.
