Call a spade a spade!
published: Thursday | November 21, 2002

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I SAT in my office and read the article on "Dons vow to maintain Peace." As a Jamaican I said, "Have we all gone mad?"

We are asking unsavoury characters to institute crime control policies for the inner-city communities. What did we offer them to maintain this so-call peace? Did we sell out the disfranchised members of our society? It is time we take back the country.

I am so angry I just can't express my anger in this forum. We have reached a low in our society that we are calling thugs community leaders! It is time we develop backbone and use the correct adjectives for these individuals.

My God, what are we teaching our youth? To emulate these people's behaviour?

Call a spade a spade. They are not examples worthy to emulate.

I am, etc.,
