Teenager kidnapped
published: Thursday | November 21, 2002

A TEENAGER, who is related to the proprietor of a well-known Kingston restaurant, was abducted last Thursday in New Kingston and the kidnappers are demanding a $2 million ransom for his release, the police say.

Flying Squad detectives who are investigating are tight-lipped about the progress of their investigation.

Less than a month ago, gunmen abducted a 35-year-old secretary in Kingston. She was one of at least 11 persons to have been abducted by criminals since the start of the year. The secretary was, however, released 24 hours after she was kidnapped. Her abductors had demanded $100,000 for her release, but according to the police, the money was not paid.

EARLIER ABDUCTIONS

Among persons abducted this year were Yvonne Beaumont-Walters and her relative, Jeffrey Beaumont. Their bodies were found in a pit in Vineyard Town, Kingston 3.

Less than 24 hours after Cyril Hamilton was abducted by gunmen in September, from Stony Hill, St. Andrew, his grey Toyota station wagon was discovered miles away in the Cave Valley, St. Ann, and the body found in the Hunts Bay police area of St. Andrew.
