Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Remembering the 960
THE EDITOR, Sir: LIKE EVERY well-thinking Jamaican indeed, every person of goodwill - I was deeply touched as I read the caption, "960 Lives Lost" (The Gleaner, Friday 6, 2002).

Media, schools and conflict resolution
THE EDITOR, Sir: I FIND it quite amazing and distressing, that after 40 years of Independence, our country is one of the most violent in the world. Part of the reason for this problem is that we do not have conflict resolution skills.

The risk of over-regulating
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE BROADCASTING Commission needs to be careful that its eagerness to regulate does not degenerate into a ludicrous philistinism.

Offenders must be severely punished!
THE EDITOR, Sir: THERE ARE many people who state that crime should be minimised. However, none have suggested how to minimise same.

Road woes of Sligoville
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONSTRUCTION OF this road 167 years ago gave characteristics to the First Free Village established in Jamaica and named Highgate.

A remarkable milestone
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON BEHALF of the Nukaboju Martial Arts Association I wish to use this medium to congratulate the Jamaica Constabulary Force on their achievement of 135 years of unbroken service to our country and the people of Jamaica.
