TWO MEN were detained yesterday in connection with the murder of a 34 year-old security guard who was shot during a robbery at a wholesale outlet in Montego Bay, St. James on Monday.
The police are withholding the names of the suspects, who were accosted at the intersection of King Street and William Street in Montego Bay at about 12:30 p.m.
They are scheduled to face an identification parade, but it was not confirmed when the identification parade would take place.
Byron Brown, a resident of Salt Spring in Montego Bay, was killed by one of three gunmen while he was on duty at the Lucky Wholesale located at 12 Orange Street.
Police reports are that about 4 p.m., the men entered the wholesale and held up its occupants at gunpoint. The operator, Henry Zhang, was robbed of $10,000 in cash. It is said that after they got the money, the men exited the building and while they were on foot through traffic, Brown threw bottles at them. One of the gunmen returned to the wholesale and shot Brown in this abdomen. The men reportedly escaped in the vicinity of North Gully and William Streets.
Brown is the 82nd murder victim for the parish since the start of the year.
