NWC restores St Catherine supply
published: Friday | December 20, 2002

CUSTOMERS OF the National Water Commission in sections of St. Catherine and Kingston should have had their full water supply restored last night after three days of emergency work on the Tulloch Spring Water Supply System in St. Catherine.

NWC reported last night that the main was temporarily restored because of the expected increased demand during the holiday season. Full repairs are scheduled for January.

The company announced on Tuesday, that the St. Catherine repair team would be carrying out an emergency repair job on its 36-inch Tulloch Spring transmission main as a result of a major break.

To make the repairs, the NWC had to cut off water to customers in Eltham Park, Keystone, Hamilton Gardens, Port Henderson Road, Cumberland, Cedar Grove, Waterford and Hellshire in St. Catherine; it advised them to store water for use. The NWC diverted water from other sources to serve sections of Kingston and Greater Portmore.
