THE EDITOR, Sir:
Please allow me space in your newspaper to bring to the fore the virtues of a Police Corporal who is stationed at the Duhaney Park Constabulary Station.
He is Corporal Dalton Leslie, a confident and committed policeman who, not only shows great concern for the citizens of the general area served by his station, but also for the students and staff of the Edith Dalton James High School.
Corporal Leslie displays a fatherly, responsible attitude and level of maturity in his work which makes him a good role model for our students. He visits the school regularly, shares in friendly talks with informal groups of students as well as teachers, sometimes, when his sense of humour is shown. He gives advice to enhance one's perseverance in doing good while avoiding bad habits and indiscipline.
His high level of professionalism is seen in his cool manner when he reprimands someone generally, but his serious and forthright bearing when an indisciplined student or intruder to the school compound tries to resist his command. His stern voice is usually enough to get compliance.
Corporal Leslie is a policeman who speaks of his belief in the power of God; and evidently does his work as "unto the Lord". This corporal is a man on the move to see the youth go in the right direction. He does his work with great energy and zeal, displaying qualities of friendliness and politeness, and in so doing, has earned for himself the respect of all or most persons with whom he interacts.
May God give him continued strength and power to achieve greater levels of success, as he pursues his career in the police force.
The Edith Dalton James High School appreciates the work of all the police officers at the Duhaney Park Station; but we are particularly pleased with that rendered by Corporal Dalton Leslie.
I am, etc
