MINISTER OF Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, K.D. Knight, has encouraged Americans and Jamaicans living in that country to invest in Jamaica.
"I entreat you to become a part of the entrepreneurship taking place in Jamaica. I entreat you to help us in the Caribbean and Jamaica in particular, by investing there and so at the end of the day, we create jobs for our people. We have the kind of structure that will allow you to have confidence as investors," he said.
Mr. Knight was speaking recently at an open forum sponsored by the United Caribbean American Network (UCAN) of New Jersey at the Edison Job Corps Centre.
The Minister told members of the audience that Jamaica, like most other countries, had a problem with crime, and that the Government had implemented strategies to curb violence and crime.
"Our government is spending a lot of money to minimise the incidence of crime and we are working in concert with the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to achieve this," he said.
"We must also work together with one aim in mind and that is to improve the quality of life in Jamaica and the Caribbean at large," Minister Knight added.
UCAN which was formed earlier this year, is dedicated to serving the needs of Caribbean-Americans in New Jersey, and also seeks to address issues of concern in Caribbean countries.
