CHITTAGONG, CMC:
WICKET-KEEPER/BATSMAN Ridley Jacobs and left-arm pacer Pedro Collins were the most prolific players for the West Indies in their successful Test series against little-rated Bangladesh that ended this week.
Jacobs, who led the West Indies in the absence of regular captain Carl Hooper (injured), scored most runs (150) and also topped the averages, while Collins was top-wicket taker with 12.
The West Indies completed their first test series whitewash on tour in 18 years when they beat Bangladesh by seven wickets Wednesday to complete a sweep of the series.
Jacobs, who scored 91 not out in the first test, and 59 in the second, averaged 150.00 in his two innings, to lead Marlon Samuels, who gathered 137 runs from three innings for a 68.50 average.
Number six batsman Daren Ganga, shifted from his regular opening spot, was third in the averages at 51.50 from an aggregate of 103 in two innings, while Ramnaresh Sarwan, who achieved his maiden Test century (119) in the first Test in Dhaka, scored 149 runs from two innings for a 49.66 average.
Collins, whose three-wicket haul on Wednesday hastened the West Indies' second Test win, earned his 12 wickets at 14.50 runs apiece to place third in the team's bowling averages behind Jermaine Lawson (12.63) and Vasbert Drakes (13.81), who snared 11 wickets each.
The 20-year-old Lawson was named man-of-the-series for his extraordinary first Test figures of six wickets for three runs off 6.5 overs that propelled the West Indies to an innings and 310-run win in Dhaka last week.
The West Indies' 2-0 series triumph was their first Test series sweep away from home since they whipped England 5-0 in 1984.
The 18-year-old Alok Kapali was the top Bangladesh batsman with 139 runs, averaging 34.75, while pacer Tapash Baisya claimed eight wickets to be the leading bowler.
