TECHNICAL director Carl Brown has invited US Major League Soccer (MLS) professionals Andy Williams, Tyrone Marshall and Craig Ziadie in his 22-man training squad announced on Monday to prepare for Sunday's friendly international against Barbados.
Jamaica's Europe-based professionals are unavailable because of club duties and the 18-man squad travelling to Barbados this weekend will be finalised later this week.
Midfielder Williams, who made Jamaica's historic 1998 World Cup trip - first ever English-speaking Caribbean team -- to the Cup Finals in France, and defender Ziadie, both play for the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.
Attacking defender Marshall helped the Los Angeles Galaxy capture the 2002 MLS Cup in his first season with the club, coming from the defunct Miami Fusion. Marshall fed the pass for Carlos Ruiz to score the golden goal winner against the New England Revolution in the final in October.
Williams has with him in the squad, two other players who went to France - goalkeeper Aaron Lawrence and defender Linval Dixon - and one newcomer, the 20-year-old midfielder Lacon Brissett.
The Reggae Boyz will be trying to protect a 10-game unbeaten run on the road as they prepare for group finals of the Caribbean Gold Cup qualifying series in March.
Jamaica and Barbados drew 1-1 when they last met in the Caribbean Group C Gold Cup qualifying series in Grenada in November.
The Jamaicans went on to top the group after wins over Guadeloupe (2-0) and Grenada (4-1), while Barbados were eliminated after stumbling to a 1-0 loss to Guadeloupe in the final game.
Squad: Aaron Lawrence, Donovan Ricketts (goalkeepers); Linval Dixon, Claude Davis, Damion Stewart, Tyrone Marshall, Kirk Hendricks, Robert Scarlett, Oneil Dunn, Irvino English, Craig Ziadie, Kasai Hinds, Wolry Wolfe (defenders); Shane Crawford, Omar Daley, Milton Griffiths, Andy Williams, Johnathan Williams, Jermaine Anderson, Lacon Brissett (midfielders); Roen Nelson, Kevin Deerr (strikers).
