
Hussey
TRAINER Percy Hussey has been hit hard by the Jamaica Racing Commission.
Yesterday the JRC fined the trainer a total of $40,000 arising from the withdrawal of his two horses, QUIET GIANT and FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE, from the fifth and ninth races on New Year's Day. The two horses were also banned from racing for 30 days. QUIET GIANT who was declared for today's eighth race has now been declared not eligible.
The horses were withdrawn on the same afternoon that jockey Charles Hussey, brother of the trainer, reported that he was threatened by a punter in the official car park for jockeys, trainers and other racing officials. Both horses are owned by Ruth Hussey, mother of both the jockey and trainer.
The JRC, in a release, said the action was taken after considering a report from the Stewards of the race meeting.

The Jamaica Racing Commission has considered a report from the Stewards of the race meeting arising from the withdrawal by Trainer Percival Hussey, of his horses QUIET GIANT and FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE from races 5 and 9 respectively on Wednesday 1st January 2003.
The Commission has imposed fines of $20,000 each for the withdrawal of the horses and disqualified them from racing for a period of thirty days with effect from 2nd January 2003.
The Commission has scheduled an enquiry into the circumstances leading to the threats on Jockey Charles Hussey's life on 1st January 2003 and the security arrangements in place for racing personnel on racedays.
