WALDERSTON:
TWO PASSENGERS in a white Camry motorcar were killed on the spot when the vehicle which was transporting them and four others got out of control and plunged into a ravine on the Mount Olivet main road approximately 1km from Walderston in Manchester at 10:30 pm Saturday January 11.
Pronounced dead at the Percy Junor Public Hospital in Spalding, were Paulette Clarke, 40-year-old higgler of 14 Perth Road, Mandeville and a man identified as Mikey of a Mandeville address.
Admitted was Kenroy Richards, 28, also of Perth Road, and transferred to the Mandeville Regional Hospital were Nyron Denton, 22 of Perth Road, David Wright, of Laughton Town, St. Ann. The owner/driver of the Camry Hubert Samuels of 14 Perth Road in Mandeville received only bruises and was treated and discharged.
Reports are that the group of six were on their way to Mount Moriah in St. Ann to attend the Nine Night of an acquaintance who was recently stabbed to death in the Mandeville Market. Reaching Mount Olivet, the car was travelling very fast and failed to negotiate a right hand curve, it hit a rail, flew off the road and was airborne before it fell on rocks about 100m below. Both deceased received head injury.
The Christiana police are investigating.
