THE EDITOR, Sir:
JAMAICA IS a wonderful country. Like any other country, we have bad citizens but it appears that we take the blame for every evil act committed by blacks in any country that we live or visit.
Here in London, other black nationalities pretend to be us. The Jamaican citizens of good character should not be ashamed of themselves. We are not the ones who are doing the bad things, but it's our responsibility to call on our fellow Jamaicans to be better individuals.
The English authorities have all the rights to impose restrictions, but I believe if we work together we can change the bad reputation that is attached to us.
When I just came here, I was travelling on a bus to a particular area that I did not know. I chose to get directions from the passenger who was setting beside me. I said, "excuse me, sir," and he was so frightened that he trembled with fear. Most blacks are seen to be bad people.
This affects all of us. Let us work to bring about a change.
I am etc.,
