Dangerous intersection
published: Thursday | January 23, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THERE WAS yet another major accident on Wellington Drive in the Liguanea/Mona area on January 13. Within a six-week period there were two fatalities on Wellington Drive with cars exiting Bamboo Avenue, including one which took the life of Mr. Hector Wynter.

This is an urgent appeal to the relevant agencies to send in experts who can assess and deal with the situation, specifically at the intersection of Bamboo Avenue and Wellington Drive, before more lives are lost. The simplest solution that comes to my mind is the erection of 'sleeping policemen' on both roads near the intersection, which will force motorists to slow down. As the 'bad driving' on our roads continues unabated, and as more lives are lost as a result, including innocent pedestrians, I wonder what will be done to deal with this frightening and extremely stressful situation.

I am, etc.,
