Cops nab fugitive wanted in New York
published: Monday | January 27, 2003

By Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

A 25-YEAR-OLD female fugitive wanted in the United States for the murder of another woman in New York, more than three years ago, was arrested on Friday in the Kingston 12 area. She was detained during an operation by teams attached to four specialised police units.

Keisha Williams, also known as 'Tanesha Clayton' and 'Shukie', of Clarence Road, Craig Town, is to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court at Half-Way Tree today to face extradition proceedings.

She was picked up on Friday during a massive operation conducted by members of the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team (JFAT), the Crime Management Unit (CMU), the Special Anti-Crime Task Force (SACTF) and members of the Mobile Reserve.

FRIDAY MORNING OPERATION

The police reported that at about 4:50 a.m., they went to premises at Clarence Road, where a warrant was executed on Williams. She was wanted on one count of manslaughter committed in the county of Westchester, New York.

Reports are that on October 9, 1999, Williams and Sashana Mc-Claughlin were involved in a fight, when a knife was used to stab Mc-Claughlin in the chest. McClaughlin was taken to the Mount Vernon Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A warrant was subsequently issued for Williams' arrest, but she fled to Jamaica.
