LINSTEAD:
INCUMBENT JAMAICA Labour Party (JLP) Councillor for the Kitson Town Division in West Central St. Catherine, Austin Morgan, has been recommended by Member of Parliament Dr. Kenneth Baugh to seek re-election in the upcoming Local Government Election.
Speaking with residents on Thursday, at Kitson Town, Councillor Morgan said he was fully committed to the development of West Central St. Catherine, where he had served as Councillor for three terms.
Dr. Baugh said that among the many improvements needed in the constituency was the reactivation of the Springvale water supply scheme, as well as the Wakefield water supply system.
He pointed out that Councillor Morgan has from time to time recommended to the St. Catherine Parish Council that everything should be done to reactivate those schemes.
Councillor Morgan said the population of West Central St. Catherine comprised many young people who were anxious to undertake farming for their economic survival, but water was the hindering factor.
The Gleaner spoke with several officials at the Spanish Town offices of the National Water Commission (NWC), who indicated that efforts were being made to reactivate those water supply schemes.
However, they were unable to say just when work would begin as funding had to be taken into consideration.
Councillor Morgan has expressed confidence that he will again be re-elected as Councillor for the Kitson Town Division based on his past performance.
