Policeman suspended after punching photographer
published: Thursday | February 13, 2003

A POLICEMAN who assaulted a Gleaner photographer outside the National Stadium yesterday has been suspended from duties pending the outcome of further investigations.

The policeman's interdiction was confirmed by James Forbes, head of the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) last night.

Staff photographer, Rudolph Brown, reported that he was attempting to take a picture of a fracas between a man and a policeman outside the National Stadium when the security officer objected to his photograph being taken.

Mr. Brown was pushed then punched in the face by the policeman. The matter was reported by Mr. Brown to the National Stadium Police on the advice of police inspectors who were on the scene.
