Challenging HIV/ AIDS in Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: SINCE THE AIDS epidemic began in the 1980's, there have been grim statistics on the millions of people, particularly Africans who have suffered gravely because of HIV/AIDS.

Helping to build Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: The 'Friends of Granville', a group from Canada, have recently completed a project with the teachers and PTA at the Granville All Age School in Trelawny.

Baseless criticisms
THE EDITOR, Sir: I REFER to numerous criticisms initiated against the civil service. Criticism is healthy in that it provides room for correction and adjustment.

Black struggle for us all
THE EDITOR, Sir: FEBRUARY IS Black History month in America, as it now is in Jamaica. It is a celebration with which all Jamaicans living in the US should identify.

Recognising bravery
THE EDITOR, Sir: PERMIT ME to recall this caption. January 8, 2003 "Burning Pleasure Boat Scares Cruise Trippers".

Support the teachers
THE EDITOR, Sir, I WRITE in support of the honourable, deserving, hard-working teachers of Jamaica who have finally mustered the guts to stand up to the government for a decent pay increase. They are much more deserving than the parliamentarians.

Signs of a difference
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with great pleasure that I share with you my response to a programme which was aired on TVJ on or around January 23, 2003.

On Jamaican visas
THE EDITOR, Sir: I think the time for the issuing of visas to visitors to our country is vital not for economics but it is our sovereign right to do so.
