ARNETT AND Tivoli Gardens in third and fourth place respectively headline today's zone B fixtures in the Wray & Nephew National Premier League in the clash of the 'Gardens' at Railway Oval.
Game time is 3:30 p.m. This game will be preceded by a 1:30 game between the Under-17s of Jamaica and Canada and an even earlier game between the Under-21 of the NPL teams.
Tivoli's manager Bryan Rose expects the match to "be a tough game". This he said is because both teams "have a strong rivalry on the field and the standard of the game is always high when they meet". Today, he believes should be no exception.
The last time they met was on December 11th last year at Railway Oval. It was then not only a matter of gaining Premier League points but more importantly one to bridge the socio/political friction between the two communities. At the end of the game the scoreline read 0-0.
Prior to that Arnett had emerged 3-2 victory over their arch rivals at Up Park Camp. These previous results has Rose yawning for victory and he hopes it will come today.
"We are looking forward to win this game as this is the third time both teams meet, we have lost one, we drew one so we aim at winning one now."
The manager added that "the players are looking forward to win one now as they are all disappointed in playing at home and drawing, we are really looking towards playing at home and winning.
Arnett's coach Jerome Waite has other ideas as he said his aim is to continue from where they left off on Wednesday when they defeated Harbour View 2-1.
"We started the third round on a winning note with the players looking good, physically, technical and emotionally," adding that he sees no reason why this should not continue.
However Waite knows the West Kingston team will not be a walkover.
"Tivoli on the other hand won their first game (2-1 over Wadadah). We expect a tough game, we know it is not going to be easy but as long as the players apply themselves and the players play up to expectation we have don't have any doubts," Waite added.
Tivoli Gardens should have a fully fit squad to choose from including the injury-plagued Christopher Nicholas while Arnett Gardens' sick list is long. On it are Kwame Richardson, Denton Shedden, Eugene Barnes and Wayne Ellis. Jermaine Benjamin will be out due to an accumulation of yellow cards but Everton Bunsie and Kevin Wilson should return.
In other zone B games, 10th place Rivoli entertain bottom place Wadadah while Harbour View look to redeem themselves following the Arnett loss when they host Reno at Compound.
Zone A will see a replay of the end-of-second-round final with the surprisingly dwindling 'firehouse'. However this time the game will be at Emmet Park.
Fresh from a 2-1 home win over Village United on Sunday, leaders Hazard (53 points), through their coach Lenworth Hyde has promised revenge for the 0-1 lost they suffered at the hands of Waterhouse last round.
However, Hyde said "he expect it to be a tough match since they (Waterhouse) lost their last game they will be coming hyped up for this one".
The Portmore based team will be without influential midfielders Kevin Williams and Omar Daley both out on three yellow cards. Kevin Deerr who missed the last game will be back today. Likewise, the country's best on-form goalie Shawn Sawyers who went down in the Midweek game while effecting a save is said to be fit and ready for the game.
Deerr, along with the leading scorer Roen Nelson (21), Wolry Wolfe, utility player Anthony Modeste, defenders Tyrone Sawyers, Claude Davis and Linval Dixon might very well be too much for Waterhouse who have lost their last two games.
However, Waterhouse's Calver Fitzgerald said they are not going to lie down and play dead." We have to get something out of the Hazard game," he said.
While Waterhouse welcome the return of Irvino English, they will be forced to do without Andre Hickling who picked up a red card in the Bull Bay game and new national invitees Vincent Earl and Demar Phillips.
However Fitzgerald says the lost will not "profoundly affect his team's chances too much" as they have suitable replacements in Desmond Breakenridge and national under -23 representative Weston Forrest.
