'Pot belly government'
published: Monday | March 10, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS so unfortunate how well-thinking Jamaicans have allowed party loyalty and sentiments to cloud their better judgement and rationale, to the point where they are unable to realise how much destruction has been done to our country by the present government.

What is even more disturbing is the arrogance and self-centredness being displayed with their incompetence and ineptitude. They have transformed the society into accepting corruption, mediocrity, incompetence, failure, hustling, immorality etc. as the normal ways of life.

This is prevalent amongst those teenaged adults who have not yet been exposed to what is, and how good government is supposed to function.

The most disgusting aspect of this situation, is the desperation of these "pot belly" politicians and party functionaries in holding on to power at any cost - even if it means destroying whatever there is.

We are not only looking at the ruining of our country's economy but also a total destruction of our children's future and a society that is being demoralised and disoriented beyond repair.

I am, etc.,

LINVAL HALL
