
GrantNORMAN WASHINGTON Grant, JP, FMAT, ACCA, MBA, was born on April 17, 1964, in the parish of St. Andrew.
He is the first of six children for Leteria Hall and Emmanuel Grant, now deceased. A high achiever, the farmer and chartered accountant was appointed a Government Senator in April, 2002, as a replacement for Janet Madden who had taken up an overseas assignment.
He has already made his mark in the Upper House with solid contributions to the often rigourous debates. He is usually well prepared, having done his research on the topic to be debated.
Senator Grant is not a stranger to positions of leadership. He has served as Director of the Agricultural Credit Bank of Jamaica and former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica Student Society.
He was educated at Mount Fletcher All-Age School and Jamaica College in St. Andrew. He holds an MBA from the University of Manchester and Wales.
The Government Senator is a member of the following professional associations: The Association of Accounting Technician - Fellow States; the Institution of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica; the Chartered Certified Accountants in London; and the Association of Public Accountants of Jamaica.
He is an Associate Pastor of the Tower Hill Branch of The Pilgrim's Church of God, a position he has held since 1993. Preceding that period he served the Mavis Bank Branch as Youth President for over 15 years and National Evangelist for over 10 years. He was recently appointed the National Director of the Body in 2002. He is also a member of the Executive Board of Governors and is very active in community affairs and developments.
Senator Grant is General Manager of the Mavis Bank Central Factory and is very active with PC Banks islandwide. He sits on several Boards, including the 4-H Clubs of Jamaica, for which he is the Chairman, and the Jamaica Agricultural Society.
A committed Christian who believes that a part of man's duty to God is service to brotherhood, Senator Grant is married to Millicent, and the union has produced three children, Phillip, Janeen and Kimona.
