Clean 'Fun in the Son'
published: Monday | March 31, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE 'FUN in the Son' concert last Saturday held at Island Village in Ocho Rios is certainly something good for our country at this time. The clean, fresh and wholesome environment that prevailed was truly something with a difference.

I really believe that the hosting of 'Fun in the Son' in Ocho Rios is a great event for not only the Christians here and those vacationing here but for anyone who is looking for a clean, exciting, high-energy musical event. Toby Mac provided all that and more, not to mention Carlene Davis, Prodigal, Mary Mary and others.

I also believe that with the pervasive drug culture that prevails, at many other musical events this event offers an alternative, particularly at Spring Break, and shows another side of our great country.

Congratulations to Tommy & Che Cowan and their team. Also to the sponsors; Jamaica Tourist Board, Jamaica Broilers, Kraft Foods, VMBS & Grace Tropical Rhythms, your investment has been well made.

As a nation struggling to emerge from a negative image abroad 'Fun in the Son" can only have positive benefits as we all work towards creating an image for our country that we can truly be proud of. We need more such wholesome events here in Jamaica.

I am, etc.,

JOHN R. BAILEY
