NEW YORK (AP): COMMERCIAL AIRLINES have been awarded more than $1 billion in military contracts since October as the war in Iraq increased demand for transporting troops, supplies and humanitarian goods to the region, military officials said yesterday..

WASHINGTON (AP): THE GLOBAL economy will experience slower-than-expected growth this year because of the Iraq war, and if the conflict does not end quickly the consequences could be much more serious, the International Monetary Fund said yesterday.
