PRIME MINISTER P.J. Patterson announced yesterday that as from May 1, the National
Housing Trust (NHT) will implement the following changes to its housing and
loan policy to benefit its contributors:
the loan limit for home acquisition will be increased from $800,000 to
$1 million;
however, no more than two persons will be allowed to co-apply in respect
of any one property to be purchased;
and a married person whose name does not appear on the title for matrimonial
property can now have access to a home loan.
The NHT is projected to spend about $8.54 billion on major projects this year, including Government's $5-billion urban renewal programme.
