TECHNOLOGY GIANT Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced that it will be offering a comprehensive set of products, services and technologies, designed to help customers successfully implement Microsoft Windows Server 2003 into their operations.
This comes on the eve of the launch of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in Jamaica, and means that more good things are in store for small and medium IT users, and businesses. HP and Microsoft's 20-year strategic relationship has set new standards in the international IT industry and both companies will be looking to replicate that success here in Jamaica. "HP and Microsoft continue to lead the advance of 'standards-based' computing, especially for the business market," said Peter Blackmore, Executive Vice President, HP Enterprise Solutions Group. "We're working side-by-side to research, test, implement and support IT solutions that meet customers' most demanding business objectives, while helping to realise immediate cost savings, especially through implementation of Windows Server 2003."
With more than 10 million Windows seats deployed or under contract, HP is the second largest Microsoft integrator in the world - second only to Microsoft itself. Based on total breadth of capabilities, HP is the only designated Worldwide Prime Integrator of Microsoft technologies.
"We at Microsoft, along with our partners at HP are committed to increasing the business value of every customer's IT system, through our line-up of products, services and support," said Jim Allchin, Global Vice President of Platforms, Microsoft Corporation. "Early adopters of Windows Server 2003 are experiencing the benefits of more consolidated, more easily managed systems; they're improving employee productivity and achieving levels of secure connectivity not previously possible. Some have increased efficiency by as much as 30 per cent."
HP's Microsoft-based services and technologies have been particularly attractive to the small and medium business market, due to the available of inexpensive, problem-solving IT solutions. "HP has been involved right from the start, and they have helped us (Microsoft) with the program management aspects of what we have been doing since the outset," Mr. Allchin continued. "Without their input we wouldn't be where we are today." HP's business partners in Jamaica are Business Partners Ltd., Computers and Controls, Digital Transtec Ltd., ILLUMINAT and Management Control Systems.
