THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS with great pleasure that I am writing to you about Trudy McLeary's achievement. I think Jamaicans living all over the world are feeling very proud of her.
Jamaicans do not have a good reputation here but her achievement tells us that we can be amongst the best in the world. Trudy's hard work and determination have given her great results. I believe Jamaicans are amongst the brightest people in the world.
During September 2002, I was in a class of about fifty international students when the lecturer reached a topic in his lesson that the other students did not understand. Here I, a Jamaican student, was given a chance to lecture for a short while.
We, Jamaicans, must show the world that most of us are not criminals but good people. I am challenging the private sector and the government to invest more money, effort and time into education. The future benefits will be great.
There are many bright young youths in the inner cities. Let us help them to be like Trudy McLeary.
I am, etc.,
