EDITOR, Sir:
IN THE Letter of the Day published on June 12, 2003, the writer in my opinion has never really experienced the true power of love. First, let me state that love should be the foremost reason why two people should get married. You cannot predict how a marriage will work out, only God knows.
Even if both parties getting married are working class, anything can happen, as life is unpredictable. What if you get married today, two months down the road a tragic accident left either of you paralysed. Would money substitute for the hurt, the grief or even that special bond that keeps a marriage together, remembering that you vowed for better or for worse?
It is difficult to find someone who is compatible in every way. What makes a marriage strong is when both parties are able to compromise, willing to go the extra mile for each other and pursue common interests for the longevity of the marriage.
No one wants to marry someone that has no aspirations, but a relationship should not be based on how others feel or think. Why a Prime Minister cannot marry a janitress? 'Where you are doesn't define where you are going!'- Bishop T.D. Jakes.
Remember, for our sakes Christ became poor, so that we through his poverty might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).
