Marlene Davis, Managing Director of Go-Jamaica. Go-Jamaica, in collaboration with CaribPay.com, has introduced Jamaica's first re-loadable, pre-paid MasterCard debit card programme that enables money transfers between North America, the United Kingdom and Jamaica. It also offers on-line shopping and access to funds stored on the card at any ATM location worldwide, where MasterCard is accepted.
The MasterCard programme is the first in the Caribbean and once a customer establishes a CaribPay MasterCard account, it will be easy for "families and businesses" to transfer money to and from Jamaica.
The CaribPay account is a borderless account and provides the most economical method of transferring funds from North America and the United Kingdom to Jamaica. With a CaribPay account, anyone from anywhere in the world can easily transfer money to you and the money is available to be used by you anywhere you are in the world. Signing up for a CaribPay account is absolutely free, while a CaribPay MasterCard can be obtained for as little as US$25, with US$10 preloaded on the card upon receipt.
HOW IT WORKS
How does CaribPay's MasterCard work? Customers set up and fund a CaribPay account either through local partners or on-line at www.Go-Jamaica.com. Customers without formal bank accounts and or credit cards can fund their accounts with a prepaid TreasureCard, which can be obtained with cash from an agent. They can then apply for a prepaid MasterCard for themselves, a family member or anyone of their choosing. Money can then be transferred via e-mail from the CaribPay account unto a designated prepaid MasterCard. Funds are instantly available to the beneficiary.
Local customers without Internet access will also be able to use the service by filling out an application form at the Gleaner Online offices in Kingston. Within two weeks, your CaribPay account would have been established and your CaribPay MasterCard delivered to you.
Together, CaribPay and Go-Jamaica.com will provide you with the fastest and most secure way to transfer cash on-line and to send money to your friends and families to and from the Caribbean.
