CARICOM trade forum tomorrow
published: Wednesday | June 25, 2003

THE PRIVATE Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) will host a special trade forum on the CARICOM Single Market Economy (CSME) at the Hilton Hotel in new Kingston tomorrow, starting at 6 p.m.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, K.D. Knight, will deliver the opening remarks at the forum, and Owen Arthur, Prime Minister of Barbados will be the guest speaker.

Earl Jarrett, chairman of the trade policy committee of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, said the forum was being organised to stress the importance of the proposed Caribbean economic union and its implications on the productive sector.

"We are delighted that Prime Minister Arthur has agreed to address the Jamaican business and public sector leaders on this significant issue," said Jarrett. "The CSME will offer opportunities for all Caribbean countries and will provide the region with greater strength in the international
negotiations."

Among the participants at the event will be private sector and union leaders, members of academia, the public sector and church leaders.
