Racial profiling at airports
published: Thursday | June 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing in response to a letter written titled 'Treat visitors equally'. The writer was upset about the harassment he faced when he arrived at the Sangster International airport. I feel bad to know that you had to experience racial profiling as a result, in your opinion, of you being black. However, such an incident has not been foreign to me, as every time I enter your famous 'US' that never does such a thing according to you, I have experienced racial profiling.

I think we should begin to look at the trouble... meaning the interrogation of blacks, and desist from saying this only happens in Jamaica, as, if you are a black living in the US you more than know that blacks are simply the '2nd man' regardless of the laws, etc. Don't go travelling around the four corners of the world pointing out other country's flaws while neglecting your own.

I am, etc.,
