JAMAICA'S SUNSHINE Girls will be seeking their fourth win when they take on the United States in one of 12 Cable & Wireless World Netball Championship games today.
That match is scheduled for court one of the National Indoor Sports Centre at 5:15 p.m.
Two equally, if not more exciting games will be contested with world champions Australia against South Africa at 7:15 p.m. and second ranked New Zealand against third ranked England at 7:30 p.m.
The Jamaicans have won all their games to date - an 89-30 victory over Trinidad & Tobago, 54-33 against South Africa and 84-24 against Samoa last night - and will be seeking to stay unblemished against the Americans.
"We recognise that there are two different levels of netball at the Championship but again, we are not about to take any team for granted," said coach Maureen Hall.
"Our aim is to make it to the qualifying rounds and the U.S. is just another team with its own set of challenges that we need to overcome in getting there.
"This game for us is a warm-up for the huge task that lies ahead in Australia, who we play on Wednesday."
The American team largely comprises players who were born and raised in the Caribbean. Five of their 12 players are Jamaicans.
Among the five are former squad members Roneish Davis, Natalie Cousins and Georgina Hibbert.
"Our styles are pretty similar but we have a great amount of respect for the Jamaica team," said Jamaican-born coach Adrienne Spencer.
"Some of our players have played against the Jamaicans before but as a team we are pretty sure what to expect and we are down for the challenge."
Twelve other games were completed yesterday with second-ranked New Zealand registering the biggest win.
The Silver Ferns trounced Cook Islands 107-17.
In other results, Scotland beat Canada 50-38, Wales beat Sri Lanka 52-46, St Lucia beat Hong Kong 64-33, Antigua stopped Cayman Islands 72-30, Northern Ireland clipped Grenada 45-42, England trounced Barbados 80-27, South Africa got by the United States 54-38.
