Expensive books

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE just finished purchasing books for my six-year-old who will be going into second grade this September, and I was shocked at the prices I had to pay for these books.

I had to hand over in excess of $6,000. The books are too expensive; one math book was $750, and for some subjects they are using three and four books.

This is ridiculous, and you know what the funny thing is? Most of the books are written by Jamaicans and printed right here. So why are they so expensive? An enquiring mind wants to know.
