CO-FOUNDER AND Chairman of Food for the Poor, Sam Mahfood, is dead. Mr. Mahfood, 63, died at his Stony Hill residence about 12 noon yesterday.
Born in Kingston, Mahfood, a successful entrepreneur, was chairman of West Indies Synthetics Company Ltd., Wisynco Trading Ltd. and Seville Development Company Ltd. He was also director of the Jamaica Drink Company.
"He served his family, his country and his company, well," William Mahfood, nephew told The Gleaner last night.
Sam Mahfood, the fourth president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) also served as head of the Jamaica Exporters Association.
A graduate of Campion Hall, St. George's College and Assumption University, Mr. Mahfood was married to Rose Marie Khouri on June 17, 1962. The union produced two sons and one daughter.
The funeral has been slated for Saturday, August 9 at 10 a.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Old Hope Road, St. Andrew.
Interment will be at Dovecot.
