LEFT-ARM fast bowler Krish-mar Santokie and wrist spinner Alton Beckford shared nine wickets in the second innings to lead Jamaica to a crushing innings and 20-run win over the Rest of Americas in their opening round TCL Group/West Indies Under-19 three-day Championships match at Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) yesterday.
Scores in the two-day contest (first day rained out), Rest of Americas 80 and 63; Jamaica 163 for four declared.
Resuming on 19 for two yesterday, the Rest of Americas could not cope with the dangerous Santokie, who had figures of 4-14 off 9.1 overs, and Beckford who claimed 5-19 from nine overs.
Santokie, who had the two wickets to fall late Wednesday evening finished with match figures of eight for 43 while Beckford ended with seven for 27.
AT BOURDA OVAL: Paced by a fine bowling performance from pacer Ravi Rampaul, Trinidad and Tobago defeated Windward Islands by an innings and 48 runs.
Scores: Windward Islands 134 and 140; Trinidad & Tobago 322.
On yesterday's final day, Rampaul picked up seven wickets for 26 runs, as the Windwards, who resumed on 111 for seven, still needing 77 runs to make Trinidad and Tobago bat again, were routed for 140. Liam Sebastien top scored for the Windwards with 56, which included five fours. Rampaul ended with match figures of nine wickets for 49 runs.
AT EVEREST: Guyana crushed the Leeward Islands by 171 runs.
Scores: Guyana 211 and 236 for nine wickets dec.; Leeward Islands 125 and 151.
Set an imposing 323 to win, from a minimum of 79 overs, the Leewards fell for 151 despite fighting knocks from Kieran Powell, 45, and Daynason David, 33, against Sauid Drepaul's 4-7.
Earlier, Skipper Assad Fudadin, 66, and Zamal Khan, 53 not out, made the most runs for Guyana.
AT ENMORE: Underdogs Canada held on for a nail-biting draw against Barbados, after threatening to upset the traditional powerhouse.
Returning on their overnight score of 45 for one, the Barbadians were bowled out for 142, with Kirk Edwards getting a top score of 36. Soham Anjaria took 4-56 for the Canadians, who were 115 for nine after being set 123 to win.
