Speaking at the launch of this new account held at the Terra Nova Hotel, St. Andrew, JNBS' marketing manager Ms. Janice Henlin said : "In the first year of launching this account we are anticipating 5,000 new accounts which equates to approximately 10 per cent of all births."
The building society's General Manager Earl Jarrett took the opportunity to speak on the importance of starting a savings account early to face the travails of life and lamented the fact that not enough people in Jamaica did so. He added that this new account should go some way to begin to encourage people to start opening savings accounts.
Addressing the performance of JNBS, he said that the Group now had assets of $34 billion and that at the end of the last financial year saw growth of 16.13 per cent over the previous year's figures. The company also launched three new brands- JNFX for the foreign exchange market, a JN Bill Pay facility and the JN Tax Saver Account which offers long-term tax free savings for both Jamaican and US dollar accounts.
