Taxi men in accident remanded
published: Thursday | August 21, 2003

By Julette Bryan, Gleaner Writer

ST. THOMAS:

THE TWO taxi drivers, who were implicated in the fatal motor vehicle accident which claimed the lives of three siblings on the Prospect main road in St. Thomas nearly three months ago, were remanded in custody when they appeared Monday in the Morant Bay Resident Magistrate's Court in the parish.

The case was again put off, this time because the files were said to be at the Office of Public Prosecutions. The two men Simroy Dixon, 20 years old and Robert Clayton, also 20 are scheduled to reappear in court on Friday, August 22.

The accident claimed the lives of Anna-Kay Roberts, 11; Carlton Carty, Jnr., 8, and Devonte Carty, 7 on the Prospect main road in St. Thomas. Dixon was charged with careless driving while Clayton was charged with careless driving and three counts of manslaughter. Both men were allegedly racing when the accident occurred.

Two of the children died on the spot, while the other died in hospital.
