JAMAICA'S NATIONAL Under-23 team leaves the island today to compete in an Olympic qualifier against Cuba on Sunday.
National Under-23 coach Peter Cargill will have control of the team as technical director Carl Brown will be supervising the senior team in England on Sunday.
The Under-23 squad is: Allien Whittaker, Richard McCallum, Sheldon Battiste, Alex Thomas, Wayne Ellis, Desmond Breakenridge, Garfield Reid, Tyrone, Damion Williams, Khari Stephenson, Cleveland Taylor, Adam Wallace, Weston Forrest, Roland Dean, Simieon Howell, Christopher Harvey, Demar Phillips, and Lenworth Hyde.
The team returns on Monday.
The senior squad faces Australia in a friendly match at Reading. The men from 'Down Under' will field a strong side including English Premier League strikers Harry Kewell (Liverpool) and Mark Viduka (Leeds). Both were cleared by their clubs to play in the match and will meet with the rest of the side at the team hotel.
"We have received confirmation of release from both clubs. They will join up with the squad and then be subject to normal team selection procedures," a spokesman for Soccer Australia said.
The Australian squad to face Jamaica at the Madjeski Stadium on Sunday is: Marco Bresciano, Steve Corica, Scott Chipperfield, Vince Grella, Brett Holman, Zeljko Kalac, Harry Kewell, Steve Laybutt, Jon McKain, Ljubo Millcevic, Kevin Muscat, Lucas Neil, Paul Okon, Mark Schwarzer, Josip Skoko, Mile Sterjovskl, Tony Vidmar and Mark Viduka.
