THE MOVERS and shakers of the regional maritime industry will converge in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from October 13 to 15, at the 33rd annual general meeting of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) to discuss pertinent regional and international issues affecting the maritime trade.
The CSA's AGM, conference and exhibition, is the largest single event on the regional shipping industry calendar. More than 200 delegates, observers and speakers from English, Spanish, French and Dutch Caribbean territories, as well as South, Central and North America and Europe, are expected to participate.
Among the topics to be explored are: International Port Operators - investment in the region; The Caribbean village - investing within the region; FTAA investing in the Caribbean; Advantages of multi-user facilities versus dedicated facilities, and NVOCCs and the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, among other issues.
Shipping Insight 2004, an exposition of emerging and existing systems, services and technologies relevant to Caribbean Shipping, will also be staged as part of the conference.
