Jamaican models score BIG
published: Monday | October 6, 2003

JAMAICAN FASHION models, Pulse's Nadine Willis and Jaunel McKenzie, as well as Saint International's Nackeisha Robinson, Canise Jackson and Margo Morrison, all scored big on the international runways during the various 'Fashion Week' events over the past month, creating a major stir among the big fashion industry players in Europe and North America.

Pulse's modelling sensation Nadine spent ten days at New York's Fashion Week, appearing on ten shows before travelling to Britain for London Fashion Week. While in New York, photographers and media houses singled out Nadine while she was being featured in the Bill Blass show. Willis appeared in her seventh runway show after being in the United States for only four months.

Apart from Bill Blass, Nadine's New York Fashion Week debut included collections for Perry Ellis and Catherine Malandrino. Nadine is now in Milan, Italy and booked to appear at a number of shows there. She is expected to arrive in Paris, France tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Jaunel, who recently completed 12 shows, the most this year by a newcomer to the New York shows, was the only new model selected for the Kenneth Cole and Donna Karan collections. Jaunel has also been selected for the Gucci show in Milan. This is a huge accomplishment for the 17-year-old model who has been riding a rollercoaster of success since her international career blossomed in March of this year. Jaunel is also scheduled to appear on the 2004 Pirelli calendar, the most coveted in the world.

STUNNING PERFORMANCE

After a stunning performance which included a standing ovation (first ever for a new model) at the recent London Fashion Week, which is fashionistas, headed by supermodel Naomi Campbell, have high praises for 19-year-old Nackeisha. Nackeisha arrived in Milan on Wednesday (halfway through the Fashion Week) and booked the Iceberg collection. She also modelled for the Missoni collection and shared the catwalk with supermodels Kate Moss and Erin O'Connor. In addition, she has already been booked for the Alexander McQueen collection for Paris Fashion Week scheduled to begin later this week. Nackeisha's achievements have put the fashion world on its heels since the young model started her fashion career in June and has no major published editorial work just yet.

Her Saint colleague, Canise, walked for seven designers at the Milan Fashion Week. The highlight of her experience however, was being handpicked by Georgio Armani for his four signature collections, including Armani jeans and Emporio Armani at the Milan fashion collections.

Canise will be flying high into the Paris Fashion Week where she is already on option for Yves St. Laurent and Alexander McQueen.

Canise is the black face for the European Mac cosmetics campaign.

Margo, also out of the Saint International's camp, worked the runway for the Tatanaka Collection at London Fashion Week. On a smaller scale, male models Hans Dreyer walked for Enyce in Miami Fashion Week and Marlando Vassell modelled for Donna Karan in Birmingham at the Pre-London Fashion Week show.
