THE EDITOR, Sir:YOUR LETTER from Richard Kong Quee, titled: "Too high price for 'dissing' Uncle Sam" and published on October 23 in the Gleaner Online, was a pathetic display of mental slavery as the writer suggested that our Prime Minister should not have exercised his option of saying no to an invitation to meet with United States President.
The other side of the issue which writer Kong Quee failed to address is that the world must be grateful to leaders like Jamaica's P.J. Patterson and France's Jacques Chirac for standing up to the sickening arrogance of Bush and his current administration who behave as if the world belongs to them and they can dictate to every country what to do and what not to do.
Many of us who voted against Bush in Florida are still appalled by his manipulation of the voting and court systems to wiggle his way into the White House and subsequently wreak havoc all over the world from the killing of Iraqis to the straining of relationships between the U.S. and Caribbean countries.
It is disgusting that any well-meaning Jamaican (I hope Mr. Kong Quee is not a Jamaican) could suggest that our Prime Minister should have answered "Yes, Bucky Master" to the likes of George Bush in this the 21st century.
