New form of slavery?
published: Tuesday | October 28, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS A start I must make it clear that I am no racist, knowing that all men are brothers otherwise called homo sapiens, and like the rest of everything on this planet, have personal and general characteristics regardless of colour and appearance. However, when one brother enslaves another, the enslaved and their descendants, there is a special case against the enslaver for total liberation and this is what I think the administration of Prime Minister Patterson is about to accomplish when the administration advocates for the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and removing the Queen as Head of State.

Mr. Seaga's persistent obstructive utterances and threat of obstruction must be seen as in agreement with Rule Britannia although Britain shows no interest in political control. He shall not prevail as the old order must and always will yield place to the new Jamaica.

Ironically, I admire Mr. Seaga particularly for his many good deeds including his relentless pursuit of education reform for the upliftment of the masses. His objection to the political reforms must be seen only as hopeless political posturing, because the reforms will be literally accomplished preferably by either his active or passive indulgence so that we can continue to call him Brother Eddie, a true Jamaican who abandons his American citizenship for his Jamaican citizenship.

I am, etc.,

OWEN S. CROSBIE
