THE EDITOR, Sir:
KINDLY PERMIT me space in your prestigious newspaper to join with the JTA in saluting Dr. Randolph Nathaniel Watson, educator extraordinaire.
Recently, Dr. Watson was inducted into the JTA's Roll of Honour. Indeed, the accolade bestowed upon him by the JTA is well deserved. Very few educators in Jamaica today have the class and character of a Dr. Watson. He is a man of unquestionable integrity and tremendous loyalty. A firm believer in Christ and a crusader of goodwill. He exemplifies all the qualities of an 'A-Grade' educator.
Dr. Watson is not just an 'A-Grade' educator; he is an advocate of justice and a practitioner of grace and humility. His disgust with self-aggrandisement is his greatest credential.
As one of his students, I make no secret of the respect and admiration I have for him. He is my mentor and friend. During his years at Bethlehem, he has imparted a wealth of know-ledge, values and moral prin-ciples to all of us. He has given his service tirelessly to the cause of education, never once allowing his pocket to precede his principles.
Now that the JTA has honoured him for his work and service, the country must now honour this great man. He should be granted a national honour by the government of this country. We all must show that we appreciate the tremendous work and worth of this great educator who has served and served well.
Thank you Dr. Watson and I am sure you will remain in 'excellent condition'. The word is still love.
I am, etc.,
ANDRE WELLINGTON
