THE EDITOR, Sir:
JAMAICA AND W.I. teenage fast bowler, Jerome Taylor, has a very bright future but that is now under threat because of my perceived mishandling by Lara, Sir Viv and the selection and management teams.
Taylor was called to play Test cricket too early and this is worsened by the heavy work load he gets in training and in matches, which may cause early burnout.
It was sad to see Lara make him bowl 9.4 overs with his back injury and they are now making Taylor play instead of making him rest and do remedial work on the counter rotation and lateral flexure problems, the biomechanics expert says he has; that helped to cause the problem.
I therefore urge the media, Taylor's family and Jamaican cricket authorities to intervene and rescue the career of Taylor and the future of W.I. cricket. History will judge us harshly if we turn a blind eye and not protect the youngster.
I am, etc.,
